New references not showing up on word

I have Word and Firefox open. I'm adding new references to my Zotero library open in Firefox, but these references aren't becoming available to me in Word when I use the "insert citation" function. Am I doing something wrong?
  • You're adding the references to the Firefox add-on, not on the webpage, correct?

How are you checking whether they become available in Word? Have you tried with the classic view (click on the small triangle at the left of the quick format citation bar)?
If you get any ability to cite, the Word add-on is communicating successfully with (at least some running instance of) Zotero, so my best best would be that you're somehow not looking right. Are you maybe adding PDFs without metadata?
  • Hello, I'm new to Zotero … I'm adding the references to the webpage. What is the "Firefox add-on"?

I'm using classic view of Zotero, because that's what I'm familiar with, but only the old references are showing up. I'm not adding PDFs, just standard reference data.
  • presumably you already installed to Firefox add-on (or Zotero Standalone). As I say, otherwise you wouldn't get any opportunity to add citations in Word at all. You'd have installed it from: https://www.zotero.org/download/

You open your library in the Firefox add-on by clicking on the "Z" icon at the top right of Firefox.

You can import anything you've added online using sync:

  • Thanks! Just downloaded Zotero Standalone and sync'ed it and it's working. Thank you!
