Editing fields

Hi

How do I edit the fields (in what appears to be a new version of Zotero), for example the authors, etc? The notes on the right which I am used to have disappeared.

Zotero recently gained the feature to collapse the right-hand pane. You should be able to re-open the pane by clicking the "grippy" at the very right of the Zotero window. See https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Tech/XUL/Tutorial/Splitters#Splitter_example to see what to look for.
