Error 1554792005: problem syncing

I'm not sure what I did, but I'm unable to sync one of my computers with the others. It says the item has been changed in multiple locations and to select which one to choose, but it won't let me choose - it automatically selects it. If I try again, the same items keep popping up.
  • If you don't see the "next" button at the bottom, try hitting return for the conflict resolution dialog.
  • I've been hitting next and it moves to the next record (50+ records), but after going through all of them, the problem isn't resolved.
  • I've tried it multiple times.
  • OK, see here then:
    https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/repeated_conflicts
  • Okay, so that's what I've done and it's still not working. Suggestions from there?
  • do you get the red exclamation mark? What does it say when you click on it at the end of the sync conflict resolution?
  • Related item doesn't exist in Zotero.Sync.Server.Data.processUpdatedXML() (null/PVZ6UAHI)
  • Then after I hit send error report I get this:

  • Paste 'PVZ6UAHI' into the Zotero search bar (in All Fields & Tags mode if you don't see anything) and delete the item that shows up, and then empty the trash. If you don't see the item in the search, it might already be in the trash.

    Then try syncing again.
  • I got sidetracked from Zotero for a little bit so am just getting back to it. I tried pasting 'PVZ6UAHI' and nothing showed up in the results or the trash. When I tried syncing again, it still didn't cooperate. Any more suggestions? I appreciate your help!
  • You're either not in All Fields & Tags mode, not checking in the library root, or are now getting a different error message. That item was deleted on the server on October 10th.
  • I know the first two were not the case, so I tried going back through the process to check on the error code. Here's the new one I got:

    Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIFileOutputStream.init]
  • And here's the rest:

    [JavaScript Error: "value is not a non-null object" {file: "chrome://browser/content/browser.js" line: 14756}]
    [JavaScript Error: "value is not a non-null object" {file: "chrome://browser/content/browser.js" line: 14756}]

  • Could it be a problem that I've brought in some of my citations through Firefox and others through Chrome?
  • disable your other add-ons, in particular Zotero Scholar Citations, and update to the newest version of Zotero. Then try again.
  • No luck - it still tells me there is a conflict resolution.
  • The conflict resolution is not an error though. You'll have to run through those and see if you get an error at the end. If you don't this will all go through. If you do, that's the relevant error (i.e. something like the "Related item doesn't exist in Zotero.Sync.Server.Data.processUpdatedXML() (null/PVZ6UAHI)" you reported above)
  • I did that - there are 79 of them. After I finished, I got the error message pasted above.

    Component returned failure code: 0x80004005 (NS_ERROR_FAILURE) [nsIFileOutputStream.init]

Where are you seeing that, exactly? And are you sure that's the full error? Can you generate a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) for the sync attempt through the error?
  • Here's the debug ID: D1580991939

I don't know if you need it, but the new report ID is 1144335396 and the error (I think it's the same as what I sent you before):
