Zotfile - Annotation Color Extraction

Hello everybody!

Although I am new to Zotero, I recognize what great functionality it offers (especially with Zotfile).

I usually read through articles and annotate (highlights, underline..) the structural key words first (for faster orientation). Of course I don't want those key words all to be extracted to Zotero notes.

As there seems to be no distinct way to set what kind of annotations are to be extracted by Zotfile I figured the best way of doing this is to create separate notes for each typ/color of annotations in the PDFs.

But I do not find any hidden option labeled "pdfExtractions.colorNotes", nor does it work when I create them by myself.

"Zotfile now extracts the color of annotations. The color can be used in two ways: (a) [...] (b) To create separate notes for color categories: The hidden option pdfExtraction.colorNotes allows you to create a separate note for each color category (yellow, red, green etc annotations)."

Can anybode explain me how this feature is meant to work? Thank you :)
  • Have a look at Zotfile's own page: http://zotfile.com/
If you scroll down (3/4) you'll find under Changelog > Zotfile v.4 a description of the feature you're looking and a way to set it up.
  • (but you'll need to make sure you actually have version 4 of ZotFile installed. The default version on mozilla is still 3.1. You can find the 4.0 version at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zotfile/versions/)
  • @Kitharion: Thanks but I carefully checked that :)

@Adamsmith: Thanks! That solved it. I thought I had the most up to date version!
