i have been using zotero for 5 weeks now. i use the latest chrome on my win 7 laptop and the stand alone and extention works great. i have a dell win 8.1tablet and i have got the latest chrome and use zotero extention and standalone on it. i am able to see the zotero icon for thevpage http://www.tate.org.uk/context-comment/articles/bring-noise however when i touch the paper with the blue line icon it dose not bring up a box on the bottom right of the screen that shows it actvley saving the artical. also the artical is not showing in stanalone on online zotero. i have gone to tools extentions alow both standalone and extantion to work toghther. this has not helped. please help.
  • you've sorted by date added or searched for "Bring the noise" in Zotero to make sure it's definitely not there?
Does this work on other sites you have tried?

If so, please provide a debug ID from Chrome for clicking/touching that icon:

  • hi there, thanks for your reply. i have been able to save anything on claire bishops website and also the bring the noise artical now. the icon and save function is working.....http://clairebishopresearch.blogspot.com.au/search/label/discussions
I cannot however see the zotero icon on any other webpage now. http://www.wbenjamin.org/walterbenjamin.html or http://seansturm.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/benjamin-theses-on-the-philosophy-of-history.pdf a debug is D1195080001 i dont know if that will help? thankyou beau.
  • For wbenjamin.org see https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/no_address_bar_icon (first paragraph, i.e. there is no metadata on the website)

For seanstrum.wordpress.com it's essentially the same reason. Zotero never shows a URL bar icon when you're looking at a PDF, since there is generally no recognizable metadata embedded in PDFs. Typically, you would want to perform metadata import from a page that _leads_ you to the PDF, but in this case, there is no structured metadata there either (there's a formatted reference of the work, but that is generally not recognizable by computers).
