Word plugin blocked by File Block settings in the Trust Center

Hi,

I have installed Zotero and the word plug-in, but kep getting an error message every time I try to put in a reference:

This error occurs when you open a Microsoft Office file type blocked by File Block settings in the Trust Center. To enable this file type, do the following:
• Click the File tab.
• Under Help, click Options.
• Click Trust Center, and then click Trust Center Settings.
• In the Trust Center, click File Block Settings.
To save documents with this file type, disable the registry policy setting. For more information, see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 922850.

The computer is at my Uni and there might be some security issue here. But I do't know how to get around it. Does anyone have any experience with this?
  • This is a Word message and the relevant microsoft knowledge base article is here:
My suspicion would be that RTF is blocked by Word for security reasons, which prevents Zotero from working.
  • Hi,
I have the same problem. When I try to insert a bibliography an error message apperars which says: you try to ogen a file type (RTF-file), which ist blocked by the access protection settings. And Word-Help refers to Microsoft Knowledge Base-Article 922850. As I checked the word settings: RTF ist activated by default. So this is not the problem. activation of the other formats does not help.
I use Firefox and Word plugin and udated the add ons. The problem occours still for any word file when I try to insert a bibliography.

Has somebody a solution for this problem?
  • Is this your personal computer or a university computer?
I was pretty sure the issue would be RTF - are you sure that's enabled?
  • Hi

your right! The university IT support has disabled the usage of RTF files with MS word because of virus corrupted rtf files circling around and a MS word security hole. The IT support informed, that microsoft will close the security leak within onw week (;-).
The workaround is to use another textprocessor then MS word.
