Moving documents from my library to my group library

I am new to zotero, so this may be an easy fix. When I get a document off the internet it automatically goes into my library but I would like to put them into the group library that I am in with someone else. I have tried to drag and drop but that doesn't seem to work so I am hoping someone could help.

    drag and drop should work - make sure you do that in your Zotero client (i.e. either in the Standalone program or in the panel that opens when you click on "Zotero" at the bottom right of Firefox).
    If that's already what you're trying, please provide more details

    I have a mac and I use safari so I have to use the stand alone program. But i drag the documents over the group library and it shows a green plus sign but it never adds it into the library.

    and you're sure the item isn't in your grou library and you're just not seeing it? This sounds like it's working.
    Can you manually create an item in the group?
    If you're sure the items you drag don't go into the group library, please provide an error report ID right after a (failed) drag&drop:

    Better yet, provide a Debug ID for a drag.
