Changes to Journal of Clinical Microbiology

Hello,

Since january 2013,the reference style of the Journal of Clinical Microbiology has been changed. This journal belongs to the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) so the changes apply to all the journals from the ASM (Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Applied and Environmental Microbiology, Clinical and Vaccine Immunology, Clinical Microbiology Reviews, Eukaryotic Cell, Infection and Immunity, Journal of Bacteriology, Journal of Clinical Microbiology, Journal of Virology)

This are the instructions provided by the new guidelines:
Beginning with the January 2013 issue, ASM
will change the way in which references are numbered
throughout articles. Citations will be numbered in the order
in which they appear in the article (citation-sequence reference
system); ASM will no longer use the citation-name system
with an alphabetized reference list. Also beginning with
January 2013 issues, entries in References will include all authors’
names; “et al.” will not be used in author lines. The
following describes the style that will be effective in January
2013.

The full guidelines are available here: http://jcm.asm.org/site/misc/journal-ita_org.xhtml#02

Would it be possible to update the citation style?
Thank you in advance.

  • In which format do the references appear in articles?
I see it's numbers, but should those be superscripted, in parentheses, in brackets?
  • The articles appears in parentheses like this (1)
  • OK, I have this bookmarked, might take a little.
  • Thank you!
  • the style on the repository should be correct - it links to the American Society for Microbiology style which was updated on Oct. 29th last year to reflect the 2013 guidelines. Let us know if you find any problems with the style.
