Text annotation dragging lags in large PDF after upgrading to macOS 27.2

Since upgrading to macOS 27.2, moving a text annotation box in the PDF reader
has become very laggy/stuttery in one large PDF. Before the upgrade, the same
PDF worked fine and I could drag annotations smoothly.

- Zotero version: [10.0.6]
- macOS: 27.2
- Mac: [MacBook Pro M5]
- PDF: scanned book with OCR text layer,
many text annotations
- In a small 10-page article with no annotations, dragging is smooth.
- Activity Monitor shows Zotero using ~3.5 GB of memory with this PDF open.
- No Zotero update was installed in the meantime; only macOS changed.

Is this a known issue with macOS 27.2? Any workaround?
  • Update: I found what triggers the lag.

When the annotation sidebar is open, dragging a text annotation box in this
large PDF is extremely laggy and stuttery. As soon as I close the sidebar,
dragging becomes perfectly smooth. In a short article with no annotations,
there is no problem even with the sidebar open.

It looks like the sidebar is being re-rendered on every mouse movement during
the drag, which shouldn't be necessary. Annotating large books is a core use
case for many researchers, and having to close the sidebar every time to move
    a note is not a workable solution. I'd kindly ask the team to look into this;
a fix would be greatly appreciated.
