Upgrade StorageFeature Request: Prevent Duplicate References When Adding Items by PMID or DOI
Hello,
I frequently use Zotero's "Add Item by Identifier" feature to import references using PubMed IDs (PMIDs) or DOIs. However, when a reference already exists in my library, Zotero creates a duplicate rather than recognizing the existing item.
I would like to request functionality that checks whether a PMID or DOI already exists in the library before importing a new reference.
I understand that duplicate prevention has previously been discussed (Zotero Forums; GitHub #1007), but I wanted to specifically highlight the "Add Item by Identifier" workflow.
Is this functionality currently planned or under consideration?
