Any chance to retain the categories or tags of our notes when importing from Citavi?
Hi there,
our institution wants us to switch from Citavi to Zotero as soon as possible.
We agree that Zotero is a great software, and we are relieved to see that it is feasible to transfer our projects, including keeping PDF attachments as well as our hierarchical categories (as collections).
However, in Citavi we have extensively used the option of creating and categorizing knowledge items (citations, comments, etc.) and of re-identifying them by category if needed. None of this seems to be available in Zotero.
Our largest project comprises around 1,800 sources and around 1,000 knowledge elements, which have been built up and maintained over the years.
Our knowledge items are imported to Zotero as notes but they lose their categories when being imported into zotero and it is not possible to categorise them. As Zotero allows tags for notes, we tried replacing note categories with keywords before importing. Unfortunately, these were only imported as tags for the titles, not the notes themselves.
We urgently need to know whether it is somehow possible to maintain the categories or keywords/tags of our knowledge items when we import our literature from Citavi to Zotero. Any information will be much appreciated!
