Android: Zotero opens PDFs/EPUBs with external apps instead of the built-in reader
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to determine whether this is a bug, a HyperOS compatibility issue, or something wrong with my device configuration.
Redmi Note 14 4G (Latin American variant)
Xiaomi HyperOS 3.0.302.0
Zotero version is 1.0.0-247
Expected behavior: When I tap an attachment in Zotero, I expect it to open in Zotero's built-in reader so that I can highlight, annotate, and have those annotations synchronize with my desktop library.
Actual behavior: PDFs do not open and they have an exclamation icon. EPUBs do download nut instead of opening the file inside Zotero, Android immediately asks me to choose another application to open the file.
Initially, the only applications offered were only banking apps. After installing ReadEra, it now appears in the list and can open the document. However, this is not a solution for me because I specifically want to use Zotero's built-in reader so that my highlights and annotations sync with my desktop.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Upgrade Storage
EPUB support is still in beta on Android, so EPUBs will currently open externally in the release version.
For PDFs, a download problem would be Files Not Syncing.
