zotero desktop client crashing right at start (Z9; MacOS)

Folks,
Since yesterday my zotero does not start anymore on my MacBook pro (Intel). Zotero 9, never any issues. Also using Zotero on iOS (iPad Pro) where it is still working fine with my library and the various groups libraries.

I have submitted logs with Debug ID D859583570

My last successful action was on Ipad where I had added a bunch of papers (PDFs) directly from browser.

I start zotero, it briefly shows the main screen, then crashes.

Started it from command line (-ZoteroDebug) to create the debug output. It complains about a bunch of JavaScript issues:

/Applications/Zotero.app/Contents/MacOS/zotero -ZoteroDebug
Missing chrome or resource URL: chrome://zotero/skin/16/white/loading.svg
UNSUPPORTED (log once): POSSIBLE ISSUE: unit 1 GLD_TEXTURE_INDEX_2D is unloadable and bound to sampler type (Float) - using zero texture because texture unloadable
JavaScript error: , line 0: uncaught exception: undefined

JavaScript error: chrome://global/content/elements/browser-custom-element.mjs, line 932: TypeError: this.ownerGlobal.gBrowser.getTabForBrowser is not a function

... and ultimately dies with a Segmentation Fault.

I don't seem to experience any issues in the browser -- just with the standalone client.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Thomas
  • Restart in Troubleshooting Mode (Help → "Restart in Troubleshooting Mode…”), which temporarily disables all plugins. If that fixes it, you'll need to identify the plugin that's causing it and then report the problem to the plugin's developer.
  • Thanks!

Looks like Better BiBTeX has some issues ...

    Appreciate your quick help!

  • Yet I see no issue reported. Can't fix what is not being reported.

I'll be happy to look at the report when it rolls in, but this snippet just shows that an error occured while BBT was loading, not that it is a BBT error. Or that it is even related to the crash at all.
