Problem with the page ranges for chapters in edited books

Hello,

I am using APA Style 7th edition in Zotero and I have noticed what seems to be an inconsistency regarding page ranges for chapters in edited books.

For a book chapter, I enter the page range in the Pages field as, for example: 30-45

However, in the generated bibliography Zotero outputs: (p. 30–45) instead of: (pp. 30–45)

According to my understanding of APA 7, a page range for a chapter in an edited volume should be preceded by "pp." rather than "p.".

For example : "Majerus, B. (2018). La désinstitutionnalisation psychiatrique : Un phénomène introuvable en Belgique dans les années 1960 et 1970 ? In H. Guillemain, A. Klein, & M.-C. Thifault (Éds.), La fin de l’asile ? (p. 143‑155). Presses universitaires de Rennes. https://doi.org/10.4000/books.pur.172213 "

Is this the expected behavior in Zotero's implementation of APA 7, or could this be a bug or a problem with my installation or locale settings?

For reference:
Zotero version: 9.0.5 (64-bit)
Citation style: APA Style 7th edition (official style)

Thank you for your help.
  • You have the citation style set to French and while there's some variation, the most common variant (both in general and for APA) is to use p. for the plural of pages.

If you want APA style in English (which will use "Eds." (no accent) and "pp.") choose English (US) in the document preferences.
