Inconsisten, erroneous citation formats when adding citation to word doc
Report ID497223479
I've chosen Chicago Manual of Style 18 author-date citation style for the whole document. I have the MS word connector. However, some citations are appearing wrong in the word doc despite all metadata being correct in the Zotero launcher.
Example 1. Steps to reproduce:
1. Add to library the following item from chrome extension (I am pasting here bibliography generated by Zotero): Evans Cameron, Hilary, Sean Rehaag, and Katrina Friesen. 2025. ‘The Effect of an “Appearance, Presentation and Demeanour” Instruction on Credibility and Deception Judgments in Mock Refugee Status Decisions’. Journal of Law and Social Policy 37 (1): 93–129. https://doi.org/10.60082/0829-3929.1492.
2. Add citation to word document text.
3. it appears as (Evans Cameron, Rehaag, et al. 2025)
Example 2. Steps to reproduce
1. Add to library the following item from chrome extension (I am pasting here bibliography generated by Zotero): Barnett, Michael, and Martha Finnemore. 2004. Rules for the World: International Organizations in Global Politics. Cornell University Press.
2. Add citation to word document text.
3. it appears as (M. Barnett and Finnemore 2004)
Example 3. Steps to reproduce
1. Add to library the following item from chrome extension (I am pasting here bibliography generated by Zotero): Barnett, Michael N., and Martha Finnemore. 1999. ‘The Politics, Power, and Pathologies of International Organizations’. International Organization 53 (4): 699–732.
2. Add citation to word document text.
3. it appears as (M. N. Barnett and Finnemore 1999)
There are many such examples. Multi-author references are all over the place in terms of the format.

adamsmithhttps://www.zotero.org/support/kb/given_name_disambiguation (same logic of adding additional names before et al)

Mit0909I understand, while this makes sense for examples 2 and 3, it doesn't for the first one. Why is the citation giving last name of the second author of the paper, shouldn't it say Evans Cameron et al? Because i have other multi author entries where it yields just the last name of first author followed by et al.
