{Citation}

I’m trying to create footnotes using Zotero with the “Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition (full note)” citation style. However, I keep running into a problem: instead of displaying the correct citation, Zotero often inserts a placeholder like Feick, climate change, 2015.{Citation}.

Sometimes I also get the error message “Troubleshooting Errors in Word Processor Documents.” I’m not sure what’s causing it.
  • When you press Add/Edit Citation Zotero inserts a placeholder "{Citation}" at the location of the cursor where it eventually adds the citation once you finalize adding items to it in the citation dialog.

    However, if you press Add/Edit Citation and then perform other actions: close the document, close Zotero, restart your computer, or similar, the {Citation} placeholder stays, and while Zotero will try to remove it next time you interact with the plugin, in some cases it presents issues. In more rare instances if an error occurs while inserting a citation, the {Citation} placeholder will remain in the text of your document, but in those cases you should submit a Report ID and we can troubleshoot the specific issue.
