I have been able to sync between my PC laptop and my Mac without problem, but today, I got error with yellow sync warning on my laptop, and usual reset didn't work. I submitted error report.
After I got some other error messages about a sync in process from same IP address I realized that this is first time I have had both Mac and PC Laptop open at same time and looking at Zotero back and forth. ( I Checked whatismyip to confirm that was the case.)
Questions:
1) Is that a no-no? Am I screwing things up using dueling zoteros on one IP? (Error related to 2 computers syncing from one IP address at same time?)
2) Does Zotero update whenever Firefox is running (even if Zotero is not open?) so I had been running both without realizing it?
3) What to do now on PC laptop? Cannot seem to get it to resync from server.
I continue to get yellow triangle after restarting PC Laptop, resetting to sync and making sure I am not using Firefox in Mac.
4) Should I export my library from Mac to PC Laptop, or can I copy onto PC from network directly from PC laptop?

ALL IS WELL.....I tried restarting Mac and not running firefox, restarting PC laptop and firefox and sync to reset from server one more time - this time it worked so all is synced and happy.
For future reference... Was this a bug or something I should avoid doing?
Can I work safely in zotero in two computers at same time from same IP address OR
Should I avoid running firefox on mac and pc at same time altogether because zotero is trying to sync whether pane is open or not and thus competing with each other....or is that ONLY if I have zotero open on BOTH?

Yes. The actual error you were getting (which wasn't related to the "sync in progress" message) was due to a problem on the server.
You might get the "sync in progress" message if both machines try to sync at the same time, in which case you can generally just click Cancel and ignore it. -

Thanks - all has been fine until today.
I have been working on my Mac for past day, and now I go to sync on my PC laptop and get yellow triangle error and cannot sync. I saw note about upgrade to 2.06b, which I did - still no luck.
QUESTION - since last time the error was due to a problem on the server that ultimately got resolved on its own, IS there a way to know whether to wait, shut down and try again later (if it is a server problem) OR go ahead and resync again with Zotero Server to get latest updates from the Mac? (It is getting time consuming enough that if there is an option of waiting, that might be preferable - since I can keep working on other computer - I want to avoid situation where I have some new info on each computer and then run into sync problems)

I went ahead and tried to restore from the Zotero server - but continue to get error. have restarted computer, etc. This is Vista Laptop. Have upgraded to 2.06b1 today.
Not sure if it is good or bad idea to try to sync my Win XP Laptop - is this server problem or related to laptop with Vista? Have been working fine on Mac all day, but am planning to take a laptop with me tomorrow, and while I have been backing up, am trying to avoid having refs split across machines until things are working smoothly.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
