pubs.acs.org not recognized

b4r4 doesn't recognize any ACS journals, but the Compatible Sites page lists pubs.acs.org as OK.

There is intermittent appearance of an icon in the URL bar (multiple visits to the same article will sometimes have an icon, sometimes not), and if there is an icon I get a 'could not save due to errors - see Known Translator issues' error when clicked.

Downloading the citation in EndNote format is not captured by zotero - the .enw file has to be manually added.

Try this article as an example:

<http://pubs3.acs.org/acs/journals/doilookup?in_doi=10.1021/ja0709730>;

I see that others have complained about this for the last few releases:

<http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/400/pubsacsorg-problem/>;

Any chance of having a look at this problem for the next release?
  • I checked the above link suggested by the original poster. If I then click on "Abstract", I get a Zotero article icon and can save the article without any problems.

    Endnote uses a variety of formats, most of which Zotero already supports. The "RefMan" or "Plain RIS" formats should work.http://pubs3.acs.org/acs/journals/doilookup?in_doi=10.1021/ja0709730
  • DOI's for ACS journals resolve to the graphical abstract as in the above link, not the text abstract. This 90's innovation (from the German journal Angewandte Chemie) made browsing and reading chemistry journals much faster - literally a picture is worth a thousand words.

    The text abstract is just an anachronism leftover from the paper based article submission process.

    You'll keep getting complaints from chemists if zotero doesn't work from the 'front page'.

    Also, none of the formats work for the citation download. EndNote, Ref Man, Plain RIS, or any of the others. Firefox pops up a standard download dialog and asks where you want to save the file.

    Tested with:

    Firefox 2.0.0.3
    Zotero 1.0b4r4
    WinXP SP2 and OS X 10.4.9
