Can't install OO plugin on OpenSuse x64

Hi: I'm running OpenSuse x64. Attempting to install the OO plugin on the Novell version of OO (3.0.1.3) seems to result in a half-finished installation. I get Zotero text buttons showing up on the toolbar but no icons - and the text buttons don't do anything. Also, the OO extension manager doesn't indicate any installation of the plugin so I can see no way to uninstall it. Thus, I can't go forward and I can't back out. At the end of the attempted installation, there was an incomprehensible error message in which the words "runtime error," "uno," and "python" figured prominently but this means nothing to me I'm afraid. I checked the file size of the plugin download and it seems to be fine. Tried re-installing a few times but it made no difference.

The Firefox extension (1.5b2.1) installed fine. Sure would be glad for any insight that might help me know what to do next. Many thanks. John

It most likely means that you have to install PyUNO & make sure that it works.

I don't know the status of PyUNO on OpenSuse or which version you are using. If you don't have PyUNO installed, install it. If you do have it installed, it may be broken on your version & you may have to upgrade (I don't know where the fix has been backported to).
  • You need to patch PyUNO. Here is a description of the bug and a patch:

It should make it to release soon, so you need to wait a little bit if you don't want to patch it yourself.
  • Thanks very much for your replies. That fixed things. Back in business. Cheers. John
