importing endnote generated bibtex file crashes firefox

Hello,

Great program! However, I don't think it is quite ready for me to make the transition yet.

I just tried to import my EndNote library of some 2531 references. The BibTex file is about 5mb. The first time I tried importing my whole computer went to a virtual standstill for about 15 minutes. It was very slow to respond and the mouse moved slowly. A utility I use called "UltraMon" crashed. Eventually the computer became responsive again, but it didn't seem to be making any progress.
I rebooted and tried the import again. This time I walked away for about 15 minutes and when I came back Firefox had crashed and I got the following report:

From what I have read since, even if I get the EndNote citations imported, Zotero is currently very slow with a large database? It seems the best strategy might be to just use Zotero to collect citations and then import them into EndNote occasionally? Does anybody have suggestions about efficient ways to do this (e.g. How should I best mark things I have exported so I only export them one time?)

Thanks,
Dan

P.S. I've created an endnote citation style and am kind of angry that ISI says it owns this now. Let me know if I can help the cause somehow.
  • Ditto -
Importing a very large >45000 reference ProCite database, as ris, caused firefox to hang, then eventually crash about 12 hours later. The system appears to have imported ~1500 references before stopping.

In a separate installation which I have been using to import references, I am at about 2800 references. I can import up to about 200 references at a time reasonably; when I approach 400 the browser hangs. At this number of references, the browser will also stumble and slow, and often fails to properly refresh large rectangle around the Zotero box along the bottom tool bar.

At the moment a much better import tool than active reference tool
