Change order of authors

Is there an easy way to change the order of the authors for an item? If not, I suggest adding a new section (with a menu separator in between) to the drop-down menu when clicking on the "Author:" field label. The section would contain "Move up" and "Move down".

I'd like to re-request this change.

Presently the only way to insert an author into a long list of authors is carefully copy and paste each author entry one row down, row-by-row, starting at the bottom, until you get to the row you need to add. Would it be possible to have "Move up" and "Move down" options, or at least allow the addition of new authors between two existing authors?
