    I am getting the following message when I try to import a document from my files:

    'No translator could be found for the given file'.

    I am new to Zotero so can anyone suggest what action is needed?

    Import is for citation metadata from standard bibliographic file formats. If you want to import a document, use "Store copy of file..."
