Hi,
I have used Zotero with no problem in APA for a period of time. However, it started to cite the first and surname of the some authors in the text in the APA style. It was working properly, but now citing first names. Why? I use Microsoft Office Word 2007 and Zotero 1.0.7.
Thank you for your help. -

In most cases this problem has to do with citing multiple works by the same author where the author's first name is represented slightly different on different items in your collection.
Zotero has no way of knowing that T. Eliot and Thomas Elliot are the same person, so Zotero assumes they are different people and most styles require that you include first name or first initial to disambiguate in situations with authors with the same last name.
So, can you check to make sure that all your authors are entered in the same way?
