    First, I have to admit I have never used citavi myself. I have only seen it in use with others. When I got it correct, there is an option to write a TOC, assign sources to specific chapters and export it to word. Then you can write along that structure.

    What do you think about it?

    I think some of Zotero's approaches to build bibliographies, could be bent to this workflow.

    For example, create a folder called "My Book" and then create sub-folders that mirror your chapters, and subsections. As you start writing a chapter you can then simply select all the items in the collection related to that chapter and drag them over.
