When I recently attempted to install zotero 1.0.6 with firefox 3 (all extensions disabled) on my Mandriva Linux 2008.1 system, firefox complained that a certain script (zotero/content/xpcom/schema.js line 459) was unresponsive after I attempted to restart it. After I forced the script to stop running, firefox continued to churn for an unusually long time before displaying a browser window. When I clicked upon the zotero button in the status bar, zotero informed me that an error had occurred. This behavior recurred after terminating and restarting firefox.

The referenced error number is 6324519741.

Removing ~/.mozilla and installing zotero without any other extensions also results in the same behavior.

Did you try clicking Continue, a few times if necessary (though it shouldn't be unless you have a very slow computer)? If you stop the database installation script (which is what's in schema.js), Zotero definitely won't work.

You might want to start Zotero with debug output enabled to follow the installation progress.

Thanks, Dan; clicking Continue solved the problem.
