The intergration with Google Scholar is very nice. I'd love to see something similar for Google News. I use zotero to keep track of references I'm adding to wikipedia articles and many of those sources come from Google News searches.

Google News search results are just links to external sites, which may or may not have Zotero translators themselves, so there's not really a way to offer a good translator for Google News. While it could use the extremely limited metadata embedded in the results page itself (Title, Publication, URL), that's not particularly helpful, especially when the actual page could have a real translator. It could theoretically check the URL for a potential real translator, load the page, and save it from there using that translator, but I'm not sure if that's possible in the translator architecture at the moment.

How about parsing the RSS feed for a given Google News search, that gives meta data such as title, publisher, date, and URL. The first paragraph of the story is included in each item and could be used as in the abstract field as well.

    Example:
    http://news.google.com/news?ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&tab=wn&q=gun+ban&output=rss
