Save to Zotero.... (Google Scholar)

I am having problems adding items to my library from Google Scholar. I am able to see the icon, click on it, select items to add to my library and click save. However, a rectangle briefly pops in the zotero citation window (bottom right side) and nothing appears.. I am able to operate okay in other cites, like amazon, NY times, etc.

My browser is Firefox 18.0.2 and Zotero 3.013. the only other plugin enabled is the Zotero Word for Windows Integration 3.1.10.
  • I went through that post, to no avail. Thanks.

    If you went through the page in full, you'd have more info for us. (Step 11)
  • Search --> http://scholar.google.com/scholar?q=Melhuish+%26+Falloon&btnG=&hl=en&as_sdt=0%2C5

    Report -->658612835
  • There are no Zotero errors in there. Did you generate and submit that immediately after the failure?

    If so, can you provide a Debug ID for a save attempt that fails?
  • Yes, the generate and submit were immediately after the failure.

    Debug Output Logging Report ID --> D1576828971
  • Try clicking the Settings button at http://scholar.google.com and selecting "Show links to import citations into BibTeX" under "Bibliography manager." This shouldn't be necessary, but it may fix things for you.
  • Okay, it is working now... a bit of information that might help...

    I went to Firefox to modify the setting as you suggested. It would allow me the modify the setting to "Bibtex," but the setting would not hold. I noticed a message indicating that cookies had to be enabled for this setting to save, so I went and check and the settings were good (cookies were properly enabled). I returned to scholar settings and still, the setting would not stay. So I went into cookies, found two from scholar and deleted them, returned to scholar and the "bibtex" setting was enabled. I Attempted to collect the resource and good. So I then went and disabled the "Bibtex" and returned to scholar and have collected articles as normal. It might have been more of a corrupt scholar cookie problem... anyway, maybe that is good information for you or others moving forward.

    Thanks.
  • I have the same problem Zotero box is blank when I tried to save a paper link.

    "So I went into cookies, found two from scholar and deleted them, returned to scholar and the "bibtex" setting was enabled." Where did you get the cookies? In the firefox options?

    Thanks.
  • In firefox, right-click on the page, select "View Page Info". Go to Security -> View Cookies. You can select "Remove All Cookies", which may also log you out of Google. Then refresh the page and try again.
  • I remove all cookies and choose "BibTex". However, the zotero box is still blank when I want to save the paper link. Anything I missed? Thanks.
  • I have a "save to zotero" icon if I visited new york times, and I can successfully save it. However, if I try it in google scholar, I still cannot save.
  • After selecting BibTeX in Google scholar settings, do you see a BibTeX link next to the search results? if you click the link, do you see a BibTeX entry (something like the text on the bottom of this page www.bibtex.org/Format/)?
  • No, if I search a paper in the google scholar, there is no BibTex link next to any search result.
