Hey up
Cross-posting from 'translations' category:
ISI web of knowledge -
http://isiknowledge.com/
- has recently stopped detecting citations. (I've checked with a friend too; they have the same problem.)
On the surface, the site looks the same. Has something been changed in the workings?
Also, while I'm here: to get references off ISI web of knowledge, a citation needed to be viewed separately - the folder option did not appear. That is, the list of references you get directly after a search didn't have the folder option. You have to click on one reference first. It's this that has now also stopped working.
Any thoughts on how to fix? And, is it just me / my friend? -

We've received no other reports of problems, and we don't see anything wrong here. Could you please post a complete URL of a resource that's not working? -

*Any* ISI web of knowledge reference. E.g.
http://apps.isiknowledge.com/full_record.do?product=UA&search_mode=GeneralSearch&qid=1&SID=T1hg@kN4LF6KOk27o@I&page=1&doc=1&colname=MEDLINE
Screenshot, where you can see lack of article-adding button where it used to be:

Any thoughts? Other people in the UK not having a problem with this? -

I can still import references from the Web of Science (I am not in the UK).
However, the translator does not work for the Web of knowledge, and this might be puzzling for users who do not know it (and extremely frustrating for users who know it!), see http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/1725/problem-with-new-interface-of-web-of-science
Still, I have no suggestion about why you currently cannot import citations that you could import some days ago. -

Yes, it's web of knowledge I'm talking about. -

I've just noticed: if I change over to the web of science tab, both folder and item resource options are available. Not so in 'all databases' despite, apparently, being the same references. Strange... -

I hope that one day the developers will have some time to dedicate to a WoK translator (some references are in WoK but not in WoS) -

First of all, I want to thank the zotero developers for their wonderful work. Zotero goes way beyond anything else that was available for bibliography maintenance on Linux beforehand. If development can be maintained, then this will definitely give EndNotes a run for their money.
As for Zotero + WoS/WoK, my personal experience using Zotero 1.0.4 on a Ubuntu Linux machine running Firefox 3.0b5 has been the following:
1) In Web of Knowledge, I get no sensing whatsoever. I have tried opening search results, marking items and the various types of exporting items. At no time do I get any sensing by zope.
2) In Web of Science, I get the sensing icon when looking at search results, but when I click on the icon, I get a box message that says "Could not save item...".
3) In one forum page, someone mentioned clicking on the "Export to RefMan, EndNote, ProCite" to get sensing. I tried this and other export options, none worked.
4) One problem with sensing is that I don't think it will ever get the additional fields that you can get with an export (for example, the abstract, which I use all the time). Therefore, it would be great if the ISI export format was directly readable by Zotero. The format is a very simple two letter key followed by the value format not unlike some of the other formats that Zotero already reads. How hard would it be for me to add this translator? I have seen you can add csl styles, but I haven't seen an important template. The documentation existing on creating importanters seems like it is a bit hard. Is there an example, say for the Refer format, that I could just copy and modify?
4) Sending to EndNote Web and then exporting that to BibTex and then importing that into Zotero does of course work, but is a bit tedious and relies on EndNote.
Thanks again. -

No progress? Still nothing on Web of Knowledge... using the latest versions of FF and Zotero on both Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.4.11 from the US. And it seems strange how it does work for WoS but not WoK... i mean, they both have the same base URL! -

There is someone working on the translator for web of knowledge.
Check out the developers forum:
http://groups.google.com/group/zotero-dev
Search for web of knowledge to find the thread. The last post was the 10th of Oct, so development is at least underway. I love the web of knowledge and zotero, but getting the two things to talk to each other is like pulling teeth. I am looking forward to the translator and a big thanks to whoever is taking the time to develop it!
