Cannot drag items (problems with organizing)

I have used zotero for quite a while now and I find it very useful.
However, during one of the last updates (firefox/zotero) I lost the ability to move any items in the middle window - so I cannot move/copy any snapshot into another collection or move a pdf into an article item.

I find this very annoying since my collection is growing and I would like to organize it. I have also noticed the discussions about forbidden dragging. In contrast my mouse cursor does not change at all when I click on any item to drag. The only thing I can move is collections in the left window.

Any ideas are welcome!

    when I do "check database integrity"
    I get
    "Errors were found in the zotero database!"
    (but no details about the errors, neither in the "report errors ...")

    Thanks for the link Dan, but this seems to be a different problem to me.
    [it is not about exporting a citation / to activate quick copy ; but about re-arranging my collection within zotero / to actually drag my items]
