Deleting items in a group library in my Zotero without deleting from the group library on the websit

I am new to Zotero and recently joined a group library which has way too many files for my storage capacity. Is there some way to delete the attachments from some or all of the items from my "local" group library without deleting them from the "parent" group library on the website? I have turned off "sync attachment files in group libraries using Zotero storage", but it seems that when I delete an item locally it is still deleted on the website. Thanks for any help.

    Storage is calculated from the group owner's account, so deleting files in a group library locally (or joining the group to begin with) wouldn't have any effect on your personal quota.

    Thanks Dan - this is good to know. So I am correct, then, that if a user has editing permission and deletes an item from a group library from within their Zotero package (Firefox or standalone), then the item will be deleted from the group library on the website (i.e. for anyone who accesses the group library)?
