How do you install the plugin to integrate Zotero with OpenOffice? I've downloaded the plugin and put it in my OpenOffice folder. The tutorial shows how to use the features, but it doesn't cover installation.

The only advice I can find is that it's like MS Word. The Word instructions tell you to put the plugin in your Word startup folder. I don't find a startup folder in the OpenOffice folder, at least not under that name.

Documentation for installation of the OpenOffice plugin indeed seems to be lacking. To install the plugin for OpenOffice, open OpenOffice, go to the Tools menu and select the Extension Manager. Select My Extensions, and click on "Add..." to install the Zotero.oxt file. After you installed the Zotero plugin, you might have to enable it (there is a button to do this within the Extension Manager).

Note that these instructions are only possible for version 2.1 of OpenOffice or higher. For version 2.0.4 the Extension Manager was called the Package Manager, and earlier versions of OpenOffice do not include an extension manager at all.

Or, if you're lucky, you can just double-click on the .oxt file, and it will open the Extension Manager and ask you if you want to install the plugin. This may vary depending on your platform.

Since I still haven't received any reply to my January 5th request - http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/1893/neooffice-plugin-problem/ - nor have I figured out how to deal with the issue. I'll repost the request here. Perhaps it is relevant.

I hadn't used the citation/bibliography plug-in in NeoOffice for a couple of weeks and yesterday when I started to work I encountered the following error when I tried to cite: “This version of the Zotero Word plug-in is incompatible with the currently installed version of the Zotero Firefox extension. Please ensure you are using the latest versions of both components.”

I re-installed the plug-in without resolution, and then did a reinstall of NeoOffice. I am still getting the same error.

I am running NeoOffice 2.2.2 Patch Six and 1.0.2r2077 on OS 10.4.11.

Are you using both the 1.0.2 release of Zotero and the 1.0b2 release of the NeoOffice plugin?

The Zotero plugin does not install in Staroffice 8 update 10 (most recent one) using the Starwriter Extension Manager.

    Hello All,

I am using an ACER Inspire One running Linpus Linux Lite with Open Office 2.3. I have Zotero 1.5 Sync Preview and have downloaded the OpenOffice plugin. However when I open OpenOffice and try to add the plugin as an extension I get the following error message:

ImplementationRegistration::registerImplementation() - the service com.sun.star.loader.Python cannot be instantiated

    Can anyone help please?

    Thanks,

    Geoff

I have the latest versions of OpenOffice, Zotero, and Firefox. Everything seems to install fine, but I don't get a nifty toolbar for Zotero in Open Office. Is there something I'm missing here?

Okay, I just figured it out. For those who have the same issue though, I'll tell you how I did it. The plug-in adds macros to the My Macros folder; so, you can go to the "customize" window and create a new toolbar with the macros as items. The path is as follows "tools->customize->toolbars->new->add->openoffice.org Macros->My Macros->Zotero->item". Note that only the last few (they all have names starting with Zotero) will actually work as toolbar buttons.
