There is no author type provision for "compiler" and the software doesn't easily address institutional authors . . . it assumes a last name, first name for all authors.
Please see the thread at the top of the forum for changes in item types and fields - e.g. I have never seen a "compiler" cited somewhere, so we'd need to know in what context that would occur, how it would be cited etc.
You can cite institutional authors by clicking on the field to the right of the author for single field mode.
I understand how to change an item type or field type, but there is simply NO provision for "compiler." It doesn't exist and I see no way to modify the drop-down selection lists from the user's perspective.

that's correct - I'm surprised this has never come up and it really does seem to be quite rare, but I'll see if we can include this in the next major update, hope it's not too late for that. Oddly, none of the section number you cite are in the online version of the CMoS at www.chicagomanualofstyle.org - but I do see in 15.35 http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/16/ch15/ch15_sec035.html that comp./comps. is indeed used. (the French make a distinction between editor and director of publication that will make it into the next update, maybe we can tag on to that, but I'm doubtful that they actually map onto each other).
Arggem and I were referring in our comments to institutional authors which can be cited correctly as described.
adamsmith: Can you open a ticket in the issue tracker for compiler with the citation info on it and link back here? I'll look into treatment of compiler in standards like Bibliontology-- can't say I've ever run into it before. This will need both Zotero and CSL changes, it seems.

@ Adam Smith - I would refer you to the Chicago Manual of Style for the use of compiler: 15.66-67, 15.77, 15.89, 15.96-100, 16.28-29, 16.46-48
Manuel Santos, comp., [ITALON]The Collected Works of Henritta Kahn[ITALOFF] (Boston: I. J. Filbert, 1989).
