ISBNs don't import correctly from Worldcat.org. Here are two examples:
http://worldcat.org/isbn/0813534208 <-- note the number IS the ISBN
- the ISBN appears as 9780813534190
http://worldcat.org/isbn/0670809128
- the ISBN appears as 9780670809127
For the heck of it, I tried to see if the number that Zotero is inserted actually was an ISBN, but that doesn't seem to be the case. For example, running 0670809128 through xISBN didn't find any corresponding FRBR type matches.

Parsing it through Library of Congress's SRU didn't yield it either.

AFAIK, ISBNs are 10 characters long; they may end in 0 to 9 or an X. UPC symbols are 13 digits long, all numbers, and starting with 978. Using isbn.nu, your WorldCat examples work for me:
http://isbn.nu/0813534208
http://isbn.nu/9780813534190
http://isbn.nu/0670809128
http://isbn.nu/9780670809127
Or am I misunderstanding your issue? -

The ISBN standard is moving from 10 to 13 digits as of January 1, 2007. It sounds like worldcat.org is already sending them out in 13 digits, with the 978 prefix for ISBNs originally issued in the 10-digit era. The final character is a check digit that will vary between the original 10-digit ISBN and the "978+10digit" version. -

I would really like to be able to capture the ISBN from the firstsearch worldcat record. Doesn't zotero do that? Or can I create some way to make it do that? Or what translator should I be using? I'm not sure really how to make this work or if it will work. Please advise.
Also I notice that some aspects of the capture from firstsearch world cat are not working correctly. I get everything captured as a journal and some fields are not filled in properly. -

Zotero accurately captures whatever ISBN information FirstSearch WorldCat embeds in its catalog pages. If you're getting items erroneously saving as journal articles, please send us examples. -

How can I send you a example of one that is wrong? I just did it again, and it marked it as a journal article, plus did not capture the isbn. Below is report output from one:

Ok. I think that I might know what is going on. I am using a different "version" of firstsearch worldcat - the staff view in the collection analysis module. I just assumed that the views were the same for the records because it was firstsearch worldcat. But on second glance, it looks like they are formating the data differently.
Still. It would be nice to capture the info without having to pull up the equivalent record in the regular firstsearch worldcat. <sigh> Any thoughts?? Both records contain all the same data and all the same field labels. The regular firstsearch worldcat does duplicate the title/author/date etc info at the top of the record, where the other staff view version does not do that.
Thanks!
