I have been using Zotero heavily now for two weeks (about 20 hours) and have made great use of the Notes and Tags to annotate a 300 page book that I am studying. The book is not in a digital format (ie. HTML, PDF), so all quotes that I cite and annotate, must be transcribed into Zotero as an individual Note.

Already, with just this one book, I have accumulated 28 notes and will most likely have 150 notes by the end. I find this system of citation and annotation very useful, but my problem is that I have no easy way of tracking the page number that each citation and annotation is associated with.

Associating each Note with a page number of the source publication would be very helpful since it would give me greater flexibility in sorting my Notes after the fact. My current workaround is to put the page number in the first 3 characters of the Note so my notes automatically sort by number in the standard Note listing screen. Considering the likelihood of others using Notes in a similar fashion, I would highly recommend adding a new Tag to each Note that only tracks the Page Number. This way the user has the option of attaching multiple "Related" items, multiple "Tags" and then multiple "Page numbers"

If this capability is already within Zotero, I would love to hear about. If it is not, I think it would be a great addition and could vastly improve searching and sorting for both individual users and when you launch Zotero server.

Thank you Zotero for such a wonderful product. This product along with Zotero Server will help my research enormously.
