Inserting Citation problems with Word 2003 using Chicago Manual of Style
I am truly baffled here. I am using the newest beta plugin and its associated word plugin (2.1b2 and 3.1a2) as of january 2010. I am having problems inserting citations into new documents as well as editing older documents with citations. However, the problem is not consistent. For example,
A) I can open a new document and try to insert a citation - Chicago author-date format works fine, but switching my document preferences to "note with bibliography" gives me an error "Zotero experienced an error updating your document...The range cannot be deleted". This same error will occur if I originally set my doc prefs to any of the non-author/date formats within the chicago family.
B) If I create a new blank document and mess around with format changes, I can sometimes eliminate this behavior. However, once I get a document working, if I save it, and close Word, the problem reappears when I open the document. Then what I do is close down word, open a blank doc, eliminate the problem by toggling back and forth until it works, and then open my document that I want to actually work on and continue.
This problem seemed to occur first once I used a document on two different computers, one with older plugins, but I don't think that caused the problem because as I have said, it is now doing this on all new docs created and edited on just my home machine.
Other bahavior: When Zotero is behaving poorly in footnote format, it will give me the error message above and also insert a numbered footnote into the text, and place the text of the citation into the main body of the document before the footnote number as if the footnote object placement confused Zotero. Furthermore, there is occasionally some inconsistency with the footnote sizing (inserts 12 pt notes sometimes), which makes some sense if zotero is confused on where it is inserting the citation.
This is all baffling to me - I have tried reinstalling the plugins, and I have looked at the "fixing broken documents" section, but that only applies to situations where zotero works fine on new docs, which is not the case here.

"[JavaScript Error: "[zoteroWinWordIntegration Exception... "The range cannot be deleted." code: "0" function: "zoteroWinWordField::SetText" location: ".\zoteroWinWordField.cpp"]"]"
but when I press "next" to submit the error it tells me to wait while it is being submitted and then never finishes
