Standalone Zotero - How can we get a copy?

We are a small Uni looking at using Zotero, the only issue being is that we use IE8 and not firefox. Will their be a beta release of the Standalone Zotero and what is the timeline for a full release?
  • I'm not a developer but development of standalone has just started, there is currently not even an alpha version and even if someone would be willing to give you a timeline (which I don't think they will) it would be very, very unreliable.
So you can either do the right thing and offer students FF 3.6 as an alternative browser - like most colleges and universities - or, if that is really impossible have a look at Mendeley
  • The basic requirements for running Zotero stand-alone have been met, as I understand it. If you are willing to commit some funds and developer time, I imagine that the Zotero project team would be glad for the help. Getting stand-alone Zotero working is probably only 200 hours or so of developer time (that's a really rough estimate), so you could use in-house developers (if you have them) and do it over the summer for under $10,000. That compares fairly favorably with a site license for Endnote.
