problem adding notes

I've just updated my version of zotero, and no longer seem to be able to add notes to an entry. When I click on "notes," and then "add," a line pops up that says "Untitled note," but when I click on that nothing happens. Yesterday, a box opened allowing me to type notes in html. I'd be grateful for any advice.
