can i store my zotero citation library on a zotero server to be retrieved online anywhere?

hello...just learned of this program and considering a switch from endnote. i'm going to be using this for scientific papers and grants and would like to build a citation library that i can access from any computer on which i have zotero installed...

can my zotero citation library be stored on the zotero server??? if i start a citation library at work, do i need to save/backup the library on a hard disk/memory stick for use in my home? or can i save my library on the zotero server while at work, sign in to my zotero account when i get home, and have my whole citation library ready to go?

just wonder if zotero can pretty much function similarly to google docs whereby i can work on a document anywhere, save it to the server, and open it from any computer anywhere (as long as i can get online) without having to "carry" the document around on a disk? (only instead of a document, it would be my citation library)

Assuming you are going to use Zotero 2.0 beta , then yes, Zotero can do everything that you have mentioned (obligatory beta software warning: backup, backup, backup; but then you should so that for all software, and I have personally found 2.0 beta to be stable). You can view your citation library from this website without needing Zotero installed, but for adding new items or modifying items you will need to have it installed.

N.B. On these pages you might see webDAV discussed as if it is the only way to sync attachments - that used to be the case before the release of Zotero file storage and the documentation hasn't yet been fully updated.

this fantastic new feature/addition to 2.0 just "saved-my-a$$". my main computer documents folder was "accidentally" erased while working on my paper. while that computer is being restored, i was able to log in from another computer to access my zotero library by installing 2.0beta and continue working on my paper with the much needed references!!! I'm so glad I synched my library with the zotero servers before all this happened.
