dragging files into library

dragging PDFs into the library is not working for me. The directions suggest to drag files into the 'middle column,' but fail to give any other information as to what this middle column is titled, etc. I assume they mean the middle column, i.e., 'creator' column of the group library page, but am not positive.

Thanks in advance for clear instructions,

  • what system are you on? This is broken on all linux distros.
Also, this is referring to Zotero as installed on your computer, not the online library.
The middle column: Zotero, on the bottom of your Firefox, has three columns: On the left you see your collections and your library, in the middle individual items (this is were you drag files) and on the right information on one selected items.
  • I am running Windows Vista on a PC. Just installed Firefox on the machine for Zotero.

On the zotero web-page, I am trying to add items to a 'group library' or in 'my library'

In our group library, there already are items (added by mac-users). On the bottom on any Zotero page on my machine, i do not have the columns you describe above. In the library, I see 'title,' 'creator,' and 'date added.' this is where I am trying to add by dragging. I tried dragging into 'my library' folder but that did not work either.
    thanks for the help
  • OK - maybe watch some of the screencasts?

You see a little confused about the general working of Zotero.
You don't do anything with your libraries on the Zotero web page.
You do that in the Zotero add on. You first have to install it. Then you click on the Zotero icon on the bottom right of your browser. Then you see the three columns as described.
  • the add-on works. thanks for the help.
