Geospatial Item Types

I'd be interested in seeing some geospatial item types in the item list. Someone might have asked for this before but I couldnt find it.

Here's some info on geospatial data citation:

At a minimum I'd find it useful to expand the existing map item abit so that it could also be used to handle maps created with GIS software like the following format:

from: (http://www.lib.uwaterloo.ca/locations/umd/digital/citation.html)

Maps produced using GIS software:

Format:
"Map Title" [type of medium]. scale. Database Name [type of medium]. Producer location, province/state: Producer Name, year. Using: GIS Software Title [type of software]. Version or edition. Software Manufacturer Location, province/state: Software Manufacturer Name, date of software release/copyright.

Example:
"Wetlands and Floodplain in GRCA" [map]. 1:10,000. GRCA GIS Data [computer files]. Cambridge, Ont.: Grand River Conservation Authority, 2001. Using: ArcView GIS [GIS software]. Version 3.2. Redlands, CA: Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc., 1992-1999.
  • What does the "Database Name" field actually refer to? Is it effectively the dataset title that is used to generate the map, or does ti actually refer to the database software?
  • Name of data set used to make the map.
  • I'd like to second Jzmiller1's request -- I rely on Zotero to organize the literature and data sources I collect for my professional projects. It would be exceptionally useful to also document the data itself. I do this manually now, and Zotero would make it a much more efficient process.
