Automatic Numbering

Not sure if this is troubleshooting or curiosity. I have about 500 or so articles in paper (illustrating the whole "paperless office" phenomenon I've heard so much about!).

I also used Endnote and one of the ways it helps is that it automatically assigns a unique number for each entry, which is how I file my articles and can track them down. Does Zotero have this capability?

    Every Item in Zotero has a "Call Number". While it is not filled automatically, it should not be a problem to fill it with any number you wish to help you organize your files.
    If you do not just place the file on top of a heap, but have a more complex organising system, then I'd suggest you also fill "Repository" and "Loc. in Archive". This allows for a much more flexible organisation of printed documents.

    Thanks, however, that seems to be a bit more complicated and unnecessary series of steps than I was looking for. I think I'll stick with EN for books and articles, and Zotero for info I find online.
