Cannot open any pdf

Hello everyone,

I have a small problem using Z beta 2.0b75 on ubuntu 9.10, ff 3.55. PDFtools are installed. I am trying to rebuild my database (was not synced and the database file got nuked due to a hardware problem). I deleted zotero (in firefox, then the directory in the firefox profile), reinstalled, set sync-options and installed the pdf tools. Then I tried to reimport the pdfs.
Nearly all of them worked before. Now, while files are imported the retrieve metadata option only gives "can not read pdf" error. For every file. Just in case, I made sure to copy files to a location with as simple a path as possible - the original path containde unicode and spaces, the new one only unicode. No change. I also tried several pdfs from threads here reported to work - same error. I also tried to redo the whole "delete and reinstall zotero" procedure - no change. What am I doing wrong ?

    Ok, more info - even after deinstalling in firefox, removing the "zotero" directory in the profile and deleting the zotero*-file in the extensions folder, after a reinstall my options are still set (including the username and password for syncing), so obviously options are still stored elsewhere ? Since I seem unable to dig this info up by myself, can someone tell me where ?
